Introducing the Yamaha b1 SC2 Silent Upright Piano

A perfect harmony of acoustic and digital technologies, the b1 SC2 is a great choice for those who are restricted in terms of space and budget, but do not want to compromise when it comes to enjoying the authentic sound and touch of a real piano.

Fitted with the latest Silent Technology, the b1 SC2 allows the piano to not only be played acoustically, but also with headphones making it completely silent to everyone but the pianist!

Additional benefits include a built in record facility, a metronome and compatibility with apps including Smart Pianist which can help you learn to play.

The chic design of the b1 is available in a wide selection of different finishes and can help to provide a superb accent to your home's interior.

Practice in complete silence!

Activate the silent mode and a rail moves between the hammers and the strings to 'switch off' the acoustic piano. Highly sophisticated optical sensor technology captures the precise movement of each key and you can hear the beautiful sound of a Yamaha CFX concert grand through your headphones.

SC2 Silent system

Select from a pallet of 10 high quality instrument voices to suit your musical genre. SC2 also features a metronome, 1 track record facility and USB to HOST, all of which can be controlled via the sleek and intuitive control panel

Binaural Sampling

The sound of the Yamaha CFX concert grand has been captured from the perspective of the pianist to create a truly spacial and immersive sound. The piano sounds like it is in front of you rather than in your ears, which also reduces fatigue and enables you to practice for longer!

Virtual Resonance Modelling technology

Virtual Resonance Modelling technology reproduces the resonance produced by the frame, rim and strings of an acoustic piano and brings the sound of the fabulous Yamaha CFX concert grand piano to life.

Download the Smart Pianist app

Smart Pianist connects your iOS or Android device to the piano, either via USB or via the optional UD-WL01 wireless LAN adaptor to remotely control the instrument's sounds, control the record facility and metronome and even display music notation on screen. The app will also scan your iTunes library and produce a basic score so you can learn to play your favourite songs!

Installation at the Yamaha factory

Unlike most silent systems, Yamaha's SC2 and SH2 Silent systems are installed during the manufacturing process. Yamaha piano actions are designed to accomodate Silent systems, so you can be sure of the highest quality performance and reliability. Nothing has been compromised!
