Designed & Manufactured by the Blüthner family from start to finish

Since 1853, Blüthner pianos have been exclusively manufactured in Leipzig, Germany. To this day, the Blüthner family of craftsman and entrepreneurs continues to head the Blüthner firm and personally oversees the production of each piano bearing their name. They carry on the legacy of the founder, Julius Blüthner, to build the best pianos in the world, achieving the highest standards of precision and craftsmanship.

Crafted from the finest materials using traditional methods

Only the finest white high mountain spruce from selected alpine stock is used for the production of Blüthner soundboards, which are seasoned for many years to ensure maximum resonance. The key bed is constructed of alternate layers of red beech and German pine resulting in a high degree of stability, while the iron frame is cast in a quartz sand mould and seasoned outside for two years.

Specially engineered hammers

The hammerheads consist of a core made of white beech, covered with a dense, hard-woven felt. Blüthner felts are processed in a complex cold-pressing process that optimally protects and preserves their valuable properties, while the bright blue underfelt is recognisable in all Blüthner instruments.

Beautifully set up and built to last

Designed around Julius Blüthner's desire to produce the finest pianos in the world, each piano that bears his name is beautifully built and intended to be passed down through the generations. Each piano is prepared by our house technicians prior to sale and ready for a lifetime of service.
