Introducing the Kawai CA-49 Digital Piano

The first model in Kawai's Concert Artist range of premium digital pianos with a superb specification, making for a great value choice for the home pianist or practice room.

Its Grand Feel Compact action features wooden keys, resting on a balance pin, just like those found in an acoustic grand. Ivory feel surfaces and escapement complete a truly grand piano like playing experience.

While audio streaming doesn't come until later in the range, the CA-49 has Bluetooth MIDI for connectivity with apps on your smart devices, while a USB port means it can be used as a controller.

The CA-49 comes in rosewood, satin black or satin white and will be an attractive addition to any home decor.

Grand Feel Compact wooden-key action

All 88 black and white keys are crafted entirely from long pieces of wood, with finely textured Ivory Touch key surfaces applied to assist playing control. As with an acoustic grand piano action, the keys rest on a metal balance pin and move with a smooth seesaw-like motion, while the extended pivot length ensures a consistent, evenly-balanced touch weight – even when playing towards the back of the key.

The Grand Feel Compact action also incorporates grade-weighted hammers, bass region counterweights, and let-off simulation for added authenticity, while its accurate triple-sensor key detection system allows rapidly repeated notes such as trills to be performed smoothly, without unnatural breaks in sound.

The magnificent sound of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand

The CA49 digital piano's primary piano sound comes from Kawai’s flagship Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano, along with the sound of the highly acclaimed EX concert grand piano. Both pianos have been meticulously sampled and faithfully reproduced using Harmonic Imaging™ sound technology. This unique process accurately recreates the broad dynamic range of the original grand pianos, affording pianists an extraordinary level of expressiveness ranging from the softest pianissimo to the strongest, boldest fortissimo.

The CA Series’ Virtual Technician feature simulates these refinements digitally, allowing performers to shape various aspects of the piano’s tonal character and playability to suit their unique personal preferences, before storing favourite setups to memory for immediate recall.

Premium sound system by Onkyo

As with the latest CA99 and CA79 models, the CA49 incorporates technologies developed in collaboration with premium audio equipment manufacturer, Onkyo, and features a new motherboard and amplification system designed to deliver richer, higher quality sound.

OLED display

Tucked away in the left cheek-block of the CA49 is a graphic OLED display and intuitive control panel for easy operation.

On-board record facility

A three song record facility allows performances to be recorded to internal memory and played back at the touch of a button. Its convenient lesson feature allows aspiring pianists to learn the piano using a built-in collection of etudes from Czerny and Burgmüller, or songs from the popular Alfred course books. The left and right hand parts for each piece can be practiced separately, while adjusting the tempo allows more difficult passages to be perfected..

Enhanced headphones experience

The CA Series’ Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) technology enhances the depth and realism of the instrument’s various sounds when using headphones or earphones, while also helping to reduce auditory fatigue when listening for extended periods of time.

Bluetooth connectivity

In addition to standard MIDI jacks for connecting to other instruments, the CA49 digital piano also boasts integrated Bluetooth MIDI technology that allows the instrument to communicate with supported smart devices wirelessly. Once connected to a phone, tablet, or laptop, CA49 digital piano owners can enjoy a wide variety of exciting music-related apps that enhance their learning and playing experience without additional cables.

Adjustable music desk angle

As with a grand piano, the viewing angle of the CA Series’ music rest can be adjusted to suit the performer’s playing position, or laid flat for convenience when notating scores.

Authentic pedal response

Reinforcing the CA Series’ reputation as the most realistic digital pianos in their price range is Kawai’s Grand Feel Pedal System. This new development accurately replicates the position and individual weighting of the damper, soft, and sostenuto pedals of a Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano to further enhance playing authenticity.
