Introducing the Yamaha GC1TA2 TransAcoustic grand piano

The GC1 grand piano is the most obvious 'upgrade' from the Yamaha GB1 grand piano, it is the first model produced at the main factory in Japan, and measuring 5'3'' it delivers greater depth of tone, particularly in the lower registers.

Now in its second generation, TransAcoustic uses the piano soundboard as a natural speaker, enabling digital sounds to be played without the need for headphones or additional speakers. You can turn down the volume, play along with backing tracks or layer digital sounds on top of the expressive sound of the GC1 making it a superb blend of acoustic and digital piano technologies.

This latest generation also has Bluetooth connectivity for audio streaming and app connectivity, making it a wonderfully versatile grand piano for home or stage.

Quiet practice without headphones

Activate the TransAcoustic mode and a rail moves between the hammers and the strings to 'switch off' the acoustic piano. Highly sophisticated optical sensor technology captures the precise movement of each key and you can hear the beautiful sound of a Yamaha CFX concert grand transmitted through the soundboard, sympathetically vibrating the bridges and strings for the most authentic digital piano sound ever produced!

TA2 TransAcoustic system

Now in its second generation, TransAcoustic technology is better than ever before! Select from a pallet of 20 high quality instrument voices to suit your musical genre, or layer digital samples on top of the acoustic piano sound. TA2 also features a metronome, 10 song on-board record facility and a USB audio recorder, all of which can be controlled via the sleek and intuitive control panel. MIDI IN/OUT and USB to HOST enables the TA2 piano to be used as a controller, or for the player to control the sound engine via an external source. Connect to your Smart device via Bluetooth and play along with your favourite songs.

Binaural Sampling

The sound of the Yamaha CFX concert grand has been captured from the perspective of the pianist to create a truly spacial and immersive sound. The piano sounds like it is in front of you rather than in your ears, which also reduces fatigue and enables you to practice for longer!

Virtual Resonance Modelling technology

Virtual Resonance Modelling technology reproduces the resonance produced by the frame, rim and strings of an acoustic piano and brings the sound of the fabulous Yamaha CFX concert grand piano to life.

Download the Smart Pianist app

Smart Pianist connects your iOS or Android device to the piano, either via USB or via the optional UD-WL01 wireless LAN adaptor to remotely control the instrument's sounds, control the record facility and metronome and even display music notation on screen. The app will also scan your iTunes library and produce a basic score so you can learn to play your favourite songs!

Installation at the Yamaha factory

Unlike most silent systems, Yamaha's Silent and TransAcoustic systems are installed during the manufacturing process. Yamaha piano actions are designed to accomodate these systems, so you can be sure of the highest quality performance and reliability. Nothing has been compromised!
