Introducing the Challen GP142 baby grand piano, c.2008
Challen is perhaps one of the most well known of the old English piano manufacturers. A prolific producer of both upright and grand pianos, the brand reached a peak in the 1920's and 30's with their 4'6 baby grand piano. This model sold by the thousands, with many of them still in service today.
Designed to be a similarly great value compact grand piano for the home, this example of the GP142 baby grand was manufactured in the world's largest and most modern piano factory, in Guangzhao China.
Much improved over its early 20th Century ancestors, this piano benefit from an engineered spruce soundboard, along with a soft-close fallboard and a sostenuto pedal, to enable selective sustaining.
Finished in a polished ebony lacquer with brass fittings, the piano is also a lovely furniture piece and is ideal for the beginner to intermediate pianist.
