Introducing the used Grotrian Steinweg 116 upright c.1998
A low volume producer of handmade, premium quality German pianos, Grotrian Steinweg manufactures approximately 600 instruments each year at their factory in Braunschweig (Brunswick), Germany. With a rich history stretching back over 140 years, Grotrian Steinweg was founded by Heinrich Engelhard Steinweg, who incidentally later moved to New York and anglicised his name to become Henry E Steinway. Grotrian has long been at the forefront of piano development, with many of their innovations becoming a standard in piano manufacturing worldwide.
Wonderfully refined and resonant, our used Model 116 traditional style upright piano measures 116cm tall, and is constructed from top quality components including a Renner action and Abel hammers. The soundboard is of 200 year old mountain spruce, while the wooden back frame is star shaped, a patented Grotrian Steinweg design to enhance its stability and absorb tension.
The piano has been only lightly used and remains in fabulous overall condition, and would be a great choice of smaller, premium quality upright for the professional musician or discerning amateur.
