Introducing the Boston UP126 upright piano c.2010
Boston pianos were introduced as a secondary brand of Steinway & Sons in the early 1990's, allowing Steinway to compete in a market where Yamaha and Kawai have the lions share. Meticulously designed to deliver Steinway quality and heritage at an affordable price point and incorporating many Steinway design features, Boston pianos are built by Kawai in Japan and are highly sought after second hand.
Our pre-owned Boston UP126 measures 126cm tall and is an excellent choice of larger upright piano, perfectly suited to the teacher and advanced student pianist. Refinements include such cosmetic details as a long music desk to accomodate single sheets and scores, while the hammers are crafted from two layers of premium wool felt, stretched over a mahogany core, specially designed by computer to ensure superior tonal quality and durability. Lower string tension enables a longer, more sustaining tone and also increases the overall life expectancy of the piano, while 5 full length laminated back posts ensure long term tuning stability.
As the mid-size model in the Boston line-up it is worth comparing against the ever popular Kawai K-500 and Yamaha U series uprights and ideal for the home or practice room.
