Dom started piano tuition with a local teacher at the age of four and progressed to lessons with a renowned concert pianist and visiting teacher at Wellington College. He achieved ABRSM Grade 8 at the age of 15. Outside the piano showroom Dom is a keen performer and regularly accompanies a jazz and blues singer as a duo, and with her 7-piece band, performing at some of the UK’s premier jazz venues.
Dom started his music industry career in 2004 and has spent the last ten years overseeing piano sales and purchasing at Chamberlain Pianos. Fifteen years’ experience has given Dom a huge wealth of piano knowledge. He is responsible for selecting our piano stock and coordinates our house technicians to ensure our broad range is of the finest quality.
A keen demonstrator of both acoustic and digital instruments, Dom can also often be found adjusting a piano action in our workshops.
Dom has visited Yamaha’s wood processing plant in Asahikawa, the frame casting factory in Iwata and final assembly piano factory in Hamamatsu. He has also toured Bluthner’s manufacturing facility in Leipzig, Germany, seeing how these handcrafted European pianos are made. This technical knowledge of acoustic piano manufacturing gives Dom an insight which is useful when offering advice.
