Introducing the c.1898 Steinway Model A grand piano
The Steinway Model A measures 6'2" (188 cm) in length, making it slightly larger than the ever-popular Model O. Its longer bass strings and increased soundboard area contribute to a richer, more colourful tonal palette and enhanced musical presence.
Originally manufactured circa 1898, this exceptional instrument has recently undergone a comprehensive restoration by one of Europe's leading piano restoration specialists, using genuine Steinway components throughout. Presented in superb condition, it retains the charm and character of an early Steinway "old-style" grand, featuring 85 keys and two pedals, and is finished in a striking high-gloss lacquered rosewood veneer.
Elegant period details include the beautifully turned "elephant leg" casework, an intricately carved music desk, and the original ebony and ivory key surfaces. As such, the piano is not only a remarkable musical instrument but also a stunning piece of late Victorian craftsmanship.
Following its arrival at our Haslemere showroom, the piano received a bespoke preparation by our in-house technician, including fine regulation, voicing, and tuning. It is now on display and available for comparison alongside our selection of new, used and restored grand pianos.
