Introducing the used Challen GP142 baby grand c.2001
Challen was one of Britain’s most prolific and respected piano manufacturers, particularly during the early decades of the 20th century. Their compact 4’6” baby grand became an enormously popular choice, with thousands of instruments finding their way into homes, schools, churches and other settings where a well-built, dependable grand piano was required. Many remain in use to this day.
Although Challen pianos are no longer manufactured in the UK, the name and character of the Challen baby grand live on. Our pre-owned Challen GP142 measures just 142cm (4’6”) in length, making it one of the most compact grand pianos available today, while still delivering a remarkably rich and powerful tone for an instrument of its size.
Manufactured by Pearl River, one of the world’s largest and most advanced piano production facilities, the GP142 combines an engineered spruce soundboard with European components and distinctive English-style voicing. Despite its compact dimensions, it features a full-size 88-note keyboard and three pedals, including a full sostenuto pedal for selective sustain and greater tonal control.
This particular piano has been privately owned from new since 2001 and has recently come to us in part exchange. It has been thoroughly prepared by our workshop technicians, including action servicing, voicing and regulation, casework polishing and tuning.
Presented in super condition throughout, this Challen GP142 is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a compact baby grand that combines an impressive presence and powerful sound with a remarkably small footprint. Fully prepared and ready for swift delivery.
