Introducing the Yamaha A1 grand piano c.1998
The 5'0" long Yamaha A1L shares frame size and much of its cabinetry with todays' GB1K, in fact aside from the music desk the two pianos look largely identical. However, the Yamaha A1 was produced at the main factory in Hamamatsu Japan, and is a significantly more refined instrument than the Indonesian-produced GA1 and GB1 models which succeeded it.
Its design is based on that of the smaller C Series models, so benefits from features such as Duplex Scaling, which enables the non speaking parts of the string to resonate and add wonderful harmonics and colour to the tone. Built to deliver C series quality at an affordable price without compromising on the quality of tone, Yamaha has implemented a handful of cost saving measures in the cabinet design including the unusually styled music desk without candleboards, along with the absence of a locking rail on the lid.
The Yamaha A1 has long been hailed as a perfect choice of compact grand piano, and to this day it remains a firm Chamberlain Pianos favourite, highly recommended for the home, school, amateur or advanced pianist alike.
This example was manufactured in c.1998 and remains in wonderful condition, little used and well maintained. The piano is freshly serviced and polished to perfection, on display in our showroom and ready for delivery.
