Introducing the Yamaha GB1K Baby Grand Piano

At just 5'1" (151 cm) in length, the Yamaha GB1K is the smallest grand piano in the Yamaha range – yet it delivers a remarkably rich, resonant tone with impressive clarity and projection. Its compact dimensions and elegant styling make it the perfect choice for homes and smaller performance spaces, while the authentic touch and responsiveness of a grand piano action make it a compelling alternative to a medium or large upright.

Based on the acclaimed Yamaha C Series design, the GB1K features a solid spruce soundboard, a soft-closing fallboard, and a sostenuto pedal, all crafted to Yamaha’s renowned standards of refinement and precision.

Offering exceptional value for money, the GB1K delivers the expressive control and dynamic range of a true grand piano at a price comparable to an upright. Superb playability makes the GB1K ideal for families with a mix of abilities – from beginners exploring their first pieces to advanced players seeking expressive, nuanced performance.

Coming with a free piano stool included, free delivery, a free post-delivery tuning and an impressive 10-year warranty, the Yamaha GB1K is the perfect baby grand for many a home.

Superb design and workmanship

Yamaha have invested more than 100 years of accumulated knowledge into the design and development of the GB1K grand piano combining art, craftsmanship and technology. For example, Yamaha designs and makes its own frames, relying on a method of casting referred to as “vacuum process”, the world’s first such technique developed over many years in creating a number of top piano frames.

Trustworthy Yamaha techniques

Yamaha truly have an enormous knowledgebase when it comes to both piano design and manufacturing, understanding, for example, how controlling the temperature and composition of casting, and even the coating used on the frame itself, affects the acoustic characteristics of the piano. This is a major reason that Yamaha is able to ensure reliable quality when crafting pianos like the GB1K.

High quality components for reliability

The Yamaha GB1K grand piano offers unbeatable value yet is constructed from high quality components including a solid soundboard crafted from Alaskan spruce. Based on the coveted C Series grands, no corners have been cut and nothing has been compromised. The tuning stability, finish and overall musical integrity of the instrument are enhanced in a way befitting of the long life expected of a fine piano. This high level of quality control also means exceedingly low maintenance costs, which is especially important for an investment like this.

Soft-closing fallboard prevents damage

A good example of the Yamaha GB1K's refinement is its soft-closing lid or fallboard. This is a luxurious feature previously only found on high end instruments; the fallboard is fitted with a soft-landing mechanism, freeing you from the worry of it shutting too firmly and causing damage, or closing it on yourself unexpectedly... no more trapped fingers!

A truly modern production facility

With fantastic build and component quality, the GB1K is made in Yamaha's Indonesian piano factory which is among the most modern and advanced in the world. Owned and operated by Yamaha, the result is high quality control from start to finish!
