Introducing the Essex EUP111 upright piano c.2012
Designed by Steinway & Sons and assembled in Asia, the Essex range was introduced as a sub-brand of Steinway, enabling them to compete in areas of the market which are very much dominated by the likes of Yamaha and Kawai.
The Essex EUP111 is a great choice of compact upright, its design incorporating many unique Steinway design patents and is consequently well suited to the beginner or more advanced musician in need of a smaller framed upright.
Measuring 111cm tall and with elegant, polished ebony cabinetry and brass fittings, the EUP111 is a handsome furniture piece too, with subtle nods to its Steinway heritage incorporated into the design.
With a soundboard of solid, quartersawn spruce and specially designed backframe, the EUP111 is produces a remarkably powerful tone for a piano of its size, and is worth comparing against the new Yamaha b2 and Kawai K-200.
