Introducing the Steinway Model B grand piano c.1978
Our Steinway Model B grand piano was manufactured at Steinway’s Hamburg factory in c.1978 and is in wonderful condition throughout. The piano has been meticulously maintained from new by a former Steinway technician, and has just benefited from a comprehensive setup by our concert technician. The casework has been restored, with a new polished ebony gloss finish and its brass fittings polished to perfection. The original action remains and has been thoroughly serviced including regulation, hammer shaping and voicing, with hammer felt and bushings evidently replaced in recent years. Further refurbishment works include the replacement of original ivory keytops with Ivoplast, a modern synthetic equivalent as used by Steinway today.
With a supremely well balanced tone and touch, the Steinway Model B measures 6'11" long and is hailed by pianists from across a wide spectrum of musical genres as a perfect piano for performance, practice and recording.
Found on stages in medium sized venues, and in schools, recording studios and private homes across the world, the Steinway Model B is very much a yardstick against which all other 6’11 grand pianos are measured.
Our c.1978 example is now on display in our Haslemere showroom, ready for selection.
